VOR's Latest Innovation Tackles Gym Overcrowding, Aiming to Boost Member Retention
- The integrated technology allows gyms to personalise workout plans using data to predict space availability.
- By providing gyms with detailed data on space utilisation and traffic flow, gyms can identify areas for improved facility management.
- “With tight margins in the fitness industry, tackling overcrowding is not just a matter of convenience, it's an important business imperative." states VOR Founder, Max Cotton.
London, 28th November – VOR, the AI-powered fitness training solution, today announces its latest integrated tool designed to combat the pervasive issue of overcrowding and availability of equipment in gyms. The VOR Engine crafts fully personalised workouts for fitness professionals to deliver in-person or online.
This new technology, embedded into VOR's core system, allows gyms to personalise workout plans using data to predict space availability, leading to improved equipment utilisation, reduced wait times, and enhanced workout efficiency for members.
Overcrowding is a significant deterrent for gym-goers. Research indicates that 15.83% of negative gym reviews in the UK cite overcrowding as a major concern, with approximately 14% of gym cancellations directly attributed to dissatisfaction with the gym environment or service quality.
In the US a staggering 52% of former gym members cancel their memberships without providing a reason, suggesting that factors like overcrowding may play a significant role in their decision.
This issue is particularly acute in densely populated urban areas like London, where limited and expensive real estate exacerbates the problem. The familiar sight of post-5pm gym congestion, coupled with the discomfort often experienced by newcomers in crowded workout spaces, has led to a quarter (25%) of the population choosing to workout solely at home.
VOR's innovative solution analyses floor space, equipment availability and location, enabling personalised and adaptable workouts that optimise the use of available resources. Even during quieter times, the lack of efficient use of equipment or gym etiquette by trainers can lead to frustration among members who may have to wait or adjust their workouts based on equipment availability.
By providing gyms with detailed data on space utilisation and traffic flow, VOR also empowers them to identify areas for improvement and make informed decisions about facility management. This approach can potentially save gyms tens of thousands of pounds typically spent on external consultants and analysis tools.
"We recognised the critical need to address overcrowding for the benefit of both gym members and operators," says Max Cotton, Founder of VOR.
"By collaborating closely with gyms and personal trainers, we developed a system that optimises space utilisation and enhances the overall gym experience. With tight margins in the fitness industry, tackling overcrowding is not just a matter of convenience, it's an important business imperative."
Beyond the immediate benefits for gyms and their members, VOR's innovation contributes to a broader societal goal: increasing physical activity levels. With only two-thirds of those aged 16 and over in England meeting recommended activity levels and 37% of the UK population remaining completely inactive, creating welcoming and accessible gym environments is crucial for improving the nation's health and well-being.
